Clause 7.4.2: Internal communication
The organization shares information about its OH&S management system internally across its levels and functions, changes to the system included where appropriate, and makes sure its communication processes let workers play a part in continual improvement.
What clause 7.4.2 asks
The organization shares information about its OH&S management system internally across its levels and functions, changes to the system included where appropriate, and makes sure its communication processes let workers play a part in continual improvement.
Internal communication is two-way. The clause requires system changes to reach the people affected and workers to have a route into continual improvement.
Check-ins are a control, not a courtesy. Regular contact is how a manager notices isolation, overload or a workspace problem that no form captures. The public consultation names reduced access to supervision and support, and the practitioner summary names regular contact as part of managing remote workers. The contact should be recorded often enough to show it happened, without becoming surveillance.
Basis: BSI, Arinite. For clause 7.4.2, the public record is a draft guideline and does not state a requirement in terms that this site can quote. The clause 7.4.2 overlay is our reading of the public scope and the named summaries, not the draft text.

What to do about clause 7.4.2 before the guidance lands
Set a minimum rhythm of one-to-one and team contact for each remote group, with an agenda that covers workload, wellbeing, workspace and reporting. Record that it happened and what was actioned, and keep the content separate from performance monitoring.
For clause 7.4.2, do the work that will be right under either instrument. The current requirement for clause 7.4.2 is ISO 45001:2018, and the certificate, if you hold one, is issued against it. The clause 7.4.2 remote working preparation is an extension of the existing duty to a group of workers the system already covers, not a new system and not a reason to rebuild around a draft.
