ISO 45008 scope and readiness check
This check answers three questions: whether the public scope covers your remote workers, how ready the evidence is across the areas the record names, and what to do first. It is computed by rule from the published scope, the stage record and the answers you enter. It does not decide conformity, and it does not replace your certification body or your lawyer.
ISO 45001:2018
That is the standard a certificate is issued against on 20 October 2026. ISO/DIS 45008 is a draft guideline beside it. It does not replace the standard, does not change a certificate and cannot be certified against.
What the check applies
| Input | How it is used | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Recurring remote | The public scope and the ISO abstract are limited to regular remote workers on a recurring basis. A one-off arrangement is outside the intended population. | ISO page 64363; BSI project scope |
| Not under direct control | The public scope covers a workplace not under the direct control of the organization, whether the worker or the organization selects it. | BSI project scope |
| Occasional trips | Occasional offsite work and business trips are excluded by the ISO abstract. The check returns out of scope and says why. | ISO page 64363 |
| Certified to ISO 45001 | The certificate is against ISO 45001:2018. The guidance does not change it; the check uses the answer to decide which clause evidence to look for. | ISO 45001:2018; BSI scope |
| Remote assessment | A missing or partial assessment is a current gap against ISO 45001 clause 6.1.2.1, not only a future one. The check scores it as a gap and names the first action. | ISO 45001:2018, 6.1.2.1 |
| Psychosocial | The public record names isolation and reduced support. A site-only psychosocial assessment leaves the remote group outside the system. | BSI release; ISO 45003 |
| Equipment and check-ins | The public record names equipment and technology, communication and review. The check scores the evidence you report and names the action. | BSI release; named summary |
| Jurisdiction | The law may follow the worker's location. The check names the jurisdiction and says that the legal register is the place to record the instrument. It does not state the law. | ISO 45001:2018, 6.1.3 |
The planning date of 13 September 2027 is an estimate, not an ISO commitment. The check shows the days to it and the stage to watch, not a deadline.
What the check does not do
- It does not audit your system or decide whether you conform.
- It does not decide whether your certification body will accept your arrangements.
- It does not state the law of any jurisdiction or give legal advice.
- It does not certify anything. ISO/DIS 45008 is a draft guideline and cannot be certified against.
The rules this is built from
Read from the real rules, not invented. The 40 clause-level records are the ISO 45001:2018 requirements, read from the standards library at the standards library: 146 evidence lines and 108 common failure lines, each cited to its clause. The remote working layer is read from the public ISO/DIS 45008 record, the BSI scope and the BSI consultation release. The draft text is not public and is not reproduced.
ISO 45001:2018, clause by clause
Each clause page states the requirement in our words, the evidence an auditor asks for, the common gaps and the remote working preparation.
