Plain answer

When will ISO 45008 be published?

ISO has not recorded a publication date. The stage record shows close of voting on 19 May 2026. BSI says publication is expected in 2027. This site uses 13 September 2027 as a planning date, labelled an estimate.

The public record

ISO records the draft at stage 40.60, close of voting, on 19 May 2026. The next recorded stages are 40.92, 40.93 and 40.99, then 50.00 and 50.60 for the FDIS, then 60.00 and 60.60 for publication. ISO has not recorded a date or an outcome for any of them.

Why the date is an estimate

The ISO page says nothing about 2027. BSI, the UK mirror, says publication is expected in 2027. The site uses 13 September 2027 as a planning date because a plan needs a date, and labels it an estimate every time it appears. It is not an ISO commitment.

The transition

There is no transition. ISO 45008 is guidance, not a certifiable management system standard, so no certificate is issued against it and no transition period applies. A certificate held today is against ISO 45001:2018 and is unaffected by the guidance.

What to do with the uncertainty

Plan the preparation work now, because it is right under either instrument, and put the publication estimate on the watch. Re-read the ISO stage page at each checkpoint and replace the estimate when the published date is recorded.
