Plain answer
What is ISO/DIS 45008?
ISO/DIS 45008 is the Draft International Standard for occupational health and safety management guidelines for remote working. It is a draft guideline, not a published standard, and no certificate can be issued against it.
The designation
ISO/DIS 45008 is the draft international standard stage of the first edition. ISO records the document at 24 pages, Edition 1, prepared by ISO/TC 283 Working Group 8, with ICS 13.100 and 13.180. The DIS ballot opened on 23 February 2026 and closed on 19 May 2026; ISO records the close of voting at stage 40.60.
What DIS means
DIS stands for Draft International Standard. It is the stage at which national member bodies vote and comment on a draft that is close to its final shape. If the vote is positive, the draft can move to FDIS, the final draft, and then to publication. If it is not, the committee can revise it and run another ballot. A DIS is not a standard and cannot be certified against.
What it is for
The public scope says the guidance helps an organization manage the health, safety and well-being at work of remote workers. It applies to any organization regardless of size, type and activities, can be used independently or as part of an OH&S management system including ISO 45001, and covers workplaces not under the direct control of the organization.
What is public
The ISO page, the stage record, the abstract and the scope note are public. The BSI project page publishes the scope and the BSI release gives the subject areas. The requirement text is not public: ISO sells the draft, and the site does not reproduce it.
